A recent shopping trip to Primark at Dubai Mall has changed the life of Tareq Al Tayar, a Libyan expatriate who has become the 10th winner of Win Your Home in Dubai, taking home a brand-new studio apartment.
Tareq, who has lived in Dubai since 2005, entered the campaign after making a qualifying purchase at Primark and was later notified that he had won the property.
From a Primark purchase to a new home
Tareq’s winning entry came from his recent shopping trip to Primark at Dubai Mall. Just three days after making the purchase, he received a phone call informing him that his entry had been selected.
At the time, Tareq was at a bank completing paperwork and initially believed the call could have been a practical joke from one of his friends. His doubts disappeared after he received an official email confirming that he had won.
“I am always positive and believe that I can win,” Tareq said, explaining that he was happy to receive the call but initially remained suspicious because he thought a friend might be playing a joke on him.
He said the official email gradually convinced him that the news was genuine, turning an ordinary shopping trip into an unexpected property win.
A Dubai life built over two decades
Tareq first moved to Dubai in 2005 and has since built his life and family between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Married since 2007 and a father of four, he works as a Statistician at the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre.
Tareq is also familiar with prize draws, having regularly participated in raffles and previously won a prize in 1998. His latest win, however, represents a significantly bigger milestone: a new studio apartment in Dubai.
“Dubai has given us so many opportunities”
Reflecting on his win, Tareq said Dubai has provided his family with many opportunities and continues to offer new experiences and possibilities.
He described Dubai as a great place to live and said he has always believed that good things can happen in the city.
While he has not yet decided exactly what he will do with his new apartment, Tareq said he is focused on enjoying the moment with his family.
12 residential units up for grabs
Win Your Home in Dubai is jointly led by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), and Dubai Chambers.
The campaign gives shoppers the opportunity to win one of 12 new residential units developed by Binghatti Developers across Dubai.
Tareq’s win marks the 10th property awarded through the campaign, with two additional apartments still to be won in the grand draw.
Grand draw set for August 30
The campaign’s grand draw is scheduled to take place on 30 August at Dubai Festival City Mall.
Two winners will be selected to receive a studio apartment and a two-bedroom apartment, respectively.
The campaign continues until 30 August 2026, giving residents and visitors additional incentives to explore Dubai’s retail destinations during the summer.
How shoppers can enter
Residents and visitors aged 18 and above can participate in Win Your Home in Dubai by spending at least AED 500 at any of more than 1,000 participating brands across over 3,500 retail outlets in Dubai.
To validate an entry, shoppers can scan the QR code displayed on official campaign materials at participating locations and upload their purchase receipt.
With the campaign approaching its final draw, shoppers still have an opportunity to turn an eligible retail purchase into a chance to win a new home in Dubai.
