In a decisive step toward greener manufacturing, Globalpharma, a leading UAE-based generics pharmaceutical manufacturer and a wholly owned subsidiary of Dubai Investments PJSC, has significantly reduced its environmental impact through an expanded adoption of solar energy solutions.
Carbon Reduction Through Solar Power
Globalpharma has successfully lowered its carbon footprint by approximately 11,400 tonnes of CO₂, following the installation of a 612 kWp rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system at its production facility in Dubai Investments Park (DIP).
The system is projected to generate around 25.3 GWh of clean energy, improving energy efficiency and decreasing reliance on electricity supplied by the national grid.
This milestone reinforces the company’s commitment to adopting solar energy as a core component of its operational strategy.
Collaborative Execution with Industry Expertise
The solar project was implemented in partnership with 386 Sky Solar Energy Systems LLC, combining Globalpharma’s operational excellence with specialized expertise in deploying renewable energy solutions at an industrial scale.
This collaboration highlights a shared commitment to integrating advanced clean energy technologies into manufacturing environments.

Integration Under Shams Dubai Programme
The solar installation is fully operational under Dubai’s Shams Dubai initiative, enabling Globalpharma to consume clean energy on-site while exporting surplus electricity back to the grid through a bi-directional metering system.
This integration marks a significant advancement in embedding solar energy into pharmaceutical manufacturing while optimizing long-term operational performance.
Leadership Insights on Sustainability
Dr. Basem Albarahmeh, CEO of Globalpharma, emphasized that the initiative forms part of a broader sustainability roadmap aimed at enhancing resource efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
He noted that integrating solar energy supports the company’s long-term vision of building a resilient, future-ready manufacturing platform aligned with evolving industry standards and regulatory frameworks.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Al Khayyat, Chairman of Three Eight Six, described the partnership as a forward-looking commitment, stating that embedding clean energy into manufacturing operations represents the type of leadership required to drive industry-wide transformation and support the UAE’s Net Zero ambitions.
Supporting UAE Net Zero 2050 Vision
This initiative aligns closely with the UAE’s national sustainability agenda, particularly the Net Zero 2050 strategy, contributing to the gradual decarbonisation of industrial operations within the healthcare manufacturing sector.
It underscores the growing role of solar energy in advancing clean energy transitions across key industries.
