In the Middle East, HDI Global Dubai continued strengthening its regional footprint by expanding specialist capabilities in Cyber, Power and Construction Risk Engineering, while supporting clients facing increasingly complex risks across infrastructure, construction, energy and cyber sectors.
HDI Global Expands Specialist Expertise in the UAE
Despite continued geopolitical uncertainty around the world, the resilience of the UAE and wider GCC economies has reinforced confidence in the region’s long-term growth prospects.
Willem van Wyk, Managing Director of HDI Global Dubai, said the company continued investing in its people and capabilities during the first half of the year, with particular emphasis on Cyber, Power and Construction Risk Engineering expertise.
As businesses take on increasingly complex projects and expand across international markets, demand is growing for multinational insurance programmes and specialist risk solutions that combine technical expertise with strong knowledge of local markets.

Insurance Revenue Reaches EUR 5 Billion
At global level, insurance revenue remained broadly stable during H1 2026 at EUR 5.0 billion, compared with EUR 5.1 billion in the same period, reflecting currency effects and a disciplined underwriting approach.
The insurance service result increased 8% to EUR 465 million, compared with EUR 430 million previously.
Combined Ratio Improves to 90.7%
The combined ratio improved to 90.7%, compared with 91.6% in the previous period, reflecting the continued benefits of disciplined underwriting and lower large-loss payments.
Natural catastrophe losses remained below budget during the first half of the year. However, significant man-made losses continued to affect businesses across different industries.
Meanwhile, the net insurance financial and investment result before currency effects benefited from higher investment volumes and increased current interest income, rising to EUR 169 million from EUR 99 million.
Group Net Income Contribution Rises 7%
HDI Global’s EBIT remained broadly stable at EUR 381 million, compared with EUR 377 million in the corresponding period.
At the same time, the division’s contribution to Group net income increased by 7% to EUR 292 million, compared with EUR 274 million previously.
The results highlight the contribution of improved insurance service performance, lower large-loss payments and stronger investment income to the company’s overall first-half performance.
GCC Investment Activity Remains Resilient
Across the GCC, investment activity maintained its momentum despite heightened geopolitical uncertainty.
Prudent leadership, strong economic fundamentals and continued investment in infrastructure, energy and economic diversification have helped the region maintain business momentum and strengthen its position as a trusted destination for international trade and investment.
The continued flow of investment is also creating demand for sophisticated corporate insurance and risk management solutions as businesses undertake major infrastructure and industrial projects.
