After two action-packed days, Friday spotlighted Southeast Asia’s digital trajectory through discussions on AI, cybersecurity, quantum tech, smart cities, and more. The event celebrated transformative innovation, rising talent, and boundary-pushing technologies reshaping industries and society alike.
Humanoid Robotics: Pioneering the Next Industrial Leap
Among the standout sectors was robotics, capturing imaginations with the potential for human-robot collaboration. China’s Booster Robotics demonstrated why this emerging market is expected to exceed US$200 billion by 2030. Their Booster T1 humanoid, crowned the ‘fastest free-walk robot’ at the 2024 IEEE-RAS Humanoids Championship, showcased next-gen robotics in action.
“Humanoid robots will become as commonplace and essential as laptops,” said Chaoyi Li, Head of Globalisation at Booster Robotics. “Our goal is to deploy multi-functional robots across industries, relieving humans from repetitive and hazardous tasks.”
Supernova Challenge: Southeast Asia’s Brightest Startups Battle for Glory
The Supernova Challenge, part of North Star Asia, was another headline highlight. Ten leading startups from Australia, Canada, India, South Korea, Serbia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Bangladesh competed for a share of a US$100,000 prize pool. Chhaya Technologies from Bangladesh clinched the US$50,000 grand prize with its digital micro-insurance platform, designed to offer affordable coverage to underserved communities.
“Winning this competition is a huge milestone for us,” said Shawon Shahriar, CEO of Chhaya. “Our focus remains on ensuring financial security for communities worldwide.”
AI’s Transformative Role in Professional Sports
The event also featured football legend Bacary Sagna, who shared insights into AI’s impact on modern sports during the ‘Future of Sports Tech’ session. Sagna explained how AI-driven analytics are revolutionizing athlete performance evaluation and aiding players’ post-retirement transitions by offering educational and financial planning support.
“AI is now integral to both player development and life beyond football,” Sagna emphasized, highlighting its significance for young athletes.
Leading Tech Giants Showcase Next-Gen Innovations
Friday also saw tech titans unveil groundbreaking solutions set to redefine industries. Fortinet introduced its AI-powered Security Operations Centre (SOC) automation platform, while iFLYTEK launched its On-Prem LMM All-In-One AI solution. Kaspersky highlighted its critical infrastructure security services, Ericsson showcased cloud and edge innovations, and Gorilla Technology presented advanced network security and video analytics systems.
