On the sidelines of Web Summit Qatar 2026, Snap Inc. announced the signing of two strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Government Communications Office (GCO) of the State of Qatar, underscoring a shared vision to advance the creator, media, and digital communications ecosystem in the country.
The multi-year agreements establish a framework for long-term collaboration focused on creator innovation, digital storytelling, and talent development, further positioning Doha as a regional and global hub for the creator economy, advertising, and media excellence.
Long-Term Collaboration to Accelerate Creator Innovation
The two MoUs set the foundation for sustained cooperation aimed at strengthening Qatar’s creative and digital landscape. Through joint initiatives, Snap Inc. and the GCO seek to enhance the tools, platforms, and capabilities that support creators, media professionals, and storytellers, in alignment with Qatar’s national priorities for digital transformation and creative economy growth.
Hosting Snap’s Creators Summit in Doha
Under the first MoU, Snap Inc. and the Government Communications Office will explore a long-term partnership to host Snap’s Creators Summit in Doha for three consecutive years starting in 2026. This builds on the success of the 2025 Snap Creators Summit, which marked the event’s first appearance in the Middle East and attracted prominent creators from across the region and around the world.
The initiative aims to expand the reach, visibility, and engagement of Snap’s creator community on both regional and global levels, while reinforcing Doha’s standing as a key destination for creator-focused events and innovation.
Expanding Digital Storytelling and Cultural Programming
Beyond the summit, the collaboration will explore opportunities to further strengthen Doha’s role as a center for creator innovation, culture, and digital storytelling. This includes the development of high-impact programs hosted in Qatar that support creative expression, storytelling excellence, and the growth of the wider creator ecosystem.

Strengthening Media and Advertising Ecosystems
The second MoU focuses on advancing Qatar’s media and advertising sectors, with a strong emphasis on digital media, creativity, and innovation. Planned initiatives include the design and delivery of specialized workshops covering advertising, media strategy, digital platforms, creator-led storytelling models, and global industry best practices.
These efforts are designed to elevate professional standards across the sector and support the evolution of modern, digitally driven media and advertising frameworks.
Talent Development and Future Media Leaders
A key pillar of the partnership is the launch of internship and talent development programs aimed at identifying, training, and mentoring emerging professionals and fresh graduates—both Qataris and non-Qataris—across media, advertising, and communications.
Through hands-on experience, professional mentorship, and industry exposure, the programs seek to nurture the next generation of media leaders. The collaboration also promotes knowledge-sharing and the exchange of best practices between global digital platforms and Qatar’s local media and advertising community.
Leadership Perspectives on the Partnership
Commenting on the announcement, Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, Director of the Government Communications Office and Chairman of the Permanent Web Summit Qatar Organizing Committee, emphasized that the partnership reflects Qatar’s commitment to building a globally connected and talent-driven creator ecosystem, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
In turn, Hussein Freijeh, Vice President of Snap Inc. for MENA and APAC, highlighted Qatar’s clear and consistent vision for a future-ready digital and creative economy, noting that the MoUs reinforce Snap Inc.’s long-term commitment to supporting creators, developing media talent, and enabling the next generation of storytellers and advertisers.
Continued Investment in Qatar’s Digital Future
The newly signed MoUs represent another milestone in Snap Inc.’s ongoing investment in the region, aligning closely with Qatar’s strategic focus on digital transformation, human capital development, and the expansion of the creative economy. Together, the initiatives aim to position Doha at the forefront of global creator innovation and digital storytelling.
