Dubai Police

Dubai Police have issued a renewed public warning highlighting the increasing spread of dangerous social media challenges that pose serious risks to children and teenagers. These online trends, often disguised as harmless entertainment, have escalated into life-threatening behaviors that demand immediate attention from families and the wider community.

Deadly Challenges Targeting Children and Teens

Authorities explained that these viral challenges encourage extremely risky actions, including skull-breaking stunts, choking games, breath-holding practices, and other reckless behaviors. Such activities can result in severe injuries, long-term health complications, or even death. Similar trends reported internationally have already led to tragic outcomes, reinforcing the urgency of addressing the issue locally.

Why Young People Are Vulnerable

According to Dubai Police, many teenagers are drawn into these challenges by the desire for excitement, peer approval, or online fame. In many cases, participants underestimate the dangers involved or fail to recognize the potentially fatal consequences of copying content shared on social media platforms.

Parents at the Front Line of Protection

Dubai Police emphasized that parents and guardians play a critical role in safeguarding children from harmful digital content. Families are encouraged to actively monitor their children’s online behavior, maintain open and honest conversations about internet safety, and educate them about the real-life dangers of imitating viral trends.

Community Responsibility and Reporting

The police urged community members to report any suspicious or dangerous online behavior that could put young people at risk. Reports can be submitted by contacting the Dubai Police Contact Centre on 901 or through the Police Eye feature available on the Dubai Police smart application. Prompt reporting helps authorities intervene early and prevent potential tragedies.
