Nissan Pushes SDV Development Forward with a Unified Cloud Platform
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has introduced the Nissan Scalable Open Software Platform, a cloud-powered foundation built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) that accelerates the company’s shift toward Software-Defined Vehicles. The new platform marks a pivotal step in Nissan’s ongoing digital transformation, which began in 2023 when the automaker partnered with AWS to upgrade its global engineering infrastructure.
A Strategic Move Toward Next-Generation Mobility
Kazuma Sugimoto, General Manager of Nissan’s Software Development Department, highlighted the company’s commitment to reshaping the future of mobility. He explained that the new platform forms the core technology behind Nissan’s vision for next-generation, AI-powered vehicles. Sugimoto emphasized that adopting AWS’s advanced cloud tools enables Nissan to boost development efficiency while delivering new customer experiences at digital-first speed.
Accelerated Development and Seamless Global Collaboration
As vehicles shift toward software-driven functionality, Nissan’s platform is designed to support faster innovation cycles, more reliable testing, and smoother cooperation across international teams.
The company has already cut its vehicle software testing time by 75 percent, thanks to extensive automation and streamlined processes. Nissan has also launched a unified development ecosystem that links more than 5,000 engineers worldwide, offering them immediate access to standardized tools and shared resources regardless of their location.
Expanding AI Integration for Advanced Driver Assistance
Nissan plans to deepen AI adoption within its SDV framework, including a demonstration of a next-generation ProPILOT prototype by September 2025. The technology is slated for deployment in domestic vehicles by fiscal year 2027. The new driver assistance system is being designed to deliver dependable support in complex driving environments, including dense city roads.
A Competitive Edge in the Global Automotive Market
With annual sales exceeding 3 million vehicles across more than 100 markets, Nissan expects the Scalable Open Software Platform to strengthen its position in a rapidly evolving industry. The company views this platform as a cornerstone for future competitiveness, helping deliver smarter, safer, and more adaptive mobility experiences.
