Lenovo has announced the launch of a new talent development program in Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with Alat, the Human Resources Development Fund, and the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources. The initiative is designed to prepare Saudi graduates for careers in smart manufacturing and advanced industrial technologies, supporting the Kingdom’s long-term economic transformation.
Hands-On Training Across Local and Global Facilities
As part of the program, 100 Saudi graduates will be seconded to Lenovo’s manufacturing facility in Riyadh, as well as selected global sites, where they will receive advanced on-the-job training. The program combines theoretical learning with practical experience in engineering, technology, and manufacturing, equipping participants with industry-ready skills aligned with international standards.
Supporting Vision 2030 and Economic Diversification
The initiative directly contributes to Saudi Vision 2030 by strengthening local talent capabilities, boosting employment opportunities, and supporting the growth of a sustainable, knowledge-based industrial sector. By investing in young Saudi professionals, Lenovo reinforces its commitment to economic diversification and the development of local manufacturing expertise.

Lenovo: Investing in People and Local Innovation
Lawrence Yu, Head of Lenovo’s Middle East and Africa Regional Headquarters, said the program reflects Lenovo’s belief in Saudi Arabia’s industrial ambitions and its people. He emphasized that the initiative will provide participants with world-class skills, foster innovation, and create long-term career opportunities, while laying the foundation for a competitive manufacturing ecosystem in the Kingdom.
Collaborative Framework and Program Governance
The program is funded by the Human Resources Development Fund, with strategic oversight provided by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources. Lenovo is responsible for delivering training and operational support, while Alat, as Lenovo’s strategic partner, contributes to program development and provides technical expertise and resources.
Exposure to a World-Class Global Supply Chain
Over a four-month training period, participants will rotate through critical functions within Lenovo’s global supply chain, gaining hands-on experience in production, quality management, and digital operations. Lenovo operates more than 30 manufacturing sites across 10 markets worldwide and was recently ranked eighth in Gartner’s global supply chain ranking, underscoring its leadership in operational excellence.
Long-Term Commitment to Saudi Arabia
This program aligns with Lenovo’s broader investments in Saudi Arabia, including the development of a new manufacturing base in Riyadh, the establishment of its MEA Regional Headquarters, and plans for R&D facilities, a flagship retail space, and a VIP customer center. Together, these initiatives aim to create a strong pipeline of skilled Saudi professionals who will drive industrial growth and advance the goals of Vision 2030.
