The Nigerian Federal Government has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to host exhibition, “GITEX Nigeria 2025,” the world’s largest technology represented by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). This move strengthens Nigeria’s position on the global technology map. The event is scheduled to take place at the International Conference and Exhibition Center in Lagos in September 2025.
Strengthening Nigeria’s Technology Sector
The agreement was signed by Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director General and CEO of NITDA, along with Trixie Loh Mirmand, CEO of KAOUN International, the organizer of GITEX. Abdullahi explained that hosting this major event in Nigeria will provide a unique opportunity to elevate the experience of technology conferences to a new level in Africa, further positioning the country as a technological hub.

This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reform agenda, which aims to enhance openness to global trade. Abdullahi stressed the need to build bridges with global markets, stating that hosting GITEX in Nigeria will drive economic growth by leveraging these international connections. Trixie Loh Mirmand expressed her optimism about the partnership with Nigeria, noting the outstanding performance of Nigerian teams in previous GITEX competitions.
