VinFast has taken a major forward in its global expansion strategy by appointing automotive industry veteran Prashanth Rao as Chief Executive Officer of VinFast Middle East. In his new role, Prashanth Rao will lead the regional strategy of VinFast, focusing on expanding operations, strengthening dealer networks, and enhancing customer experience. His leadership will be central to scaling the company’s presence across the Middle East and supporting the transition toward sustainable mobility.
Extensive Global Automotive Experience
Rao brings more than 21 years of experience in the automotive sector, covering both electric vehicles (EVs) and internal combustion engine (ICE) segments. His career spans multiple international markets, including the Middle East, India, Europe, Africa, and Asia Oceania, where he has led transformation initiatives across sales, aftersales services, and customer engagement.
Vision for the Middle East Mobility Market
Commenting on his appointment, Rao highlighted the Middle East as one of the world’s most dynamic and forward-looking mobility markets. He emphasized the region’s rapid momentum toward sustainable transportation and expressed his commitment to working closely with partners and stakeholders to make EVs more accessible while delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Track Record of Strategic Leadership
Prior to this role, Rao served as Deputy CEO of VinFast India, where he played a key role in building the company’s EV ecosystem, including charging infrastructure and dealer networks.
He also held senior leadership positions at Nissan INFINITI Middle East, Honda Middle East, and Toyota Kirloskar Motors, overseeing operations across 19 countries and managing multinational teams.
Awards and Industry Recognition
Throughout his career, Rao has received multiple honors, including Global Chairman’s Awards from Nissan and recognition from JD Power for excellence in customer experience. He has also managed extensive dealer networks with over 40 locations and led specialized projects in EV infrastructure and battery repair.
