Oman

Oman has awarded Emirates Building Systems (EBS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Dubai Investments PJSC, a significant contract to execute the complete structural steel works for the Sayyid Tarik Bin Taimur Cultural Complex, one of the Sultanate’s most prominent upcoming cultural megaprojects. The award reinforces EBS’s position as a regional leader in delivering complex, large-scale steel structures for high-profile developments.

A World-Class Cultural Destination

Designed as an international hub for arts, heritage, and public engagement, the Sayyid Tarik Bin Taimur Cultural Complex will integrate the National Theatre, National Library, and National Archives, alongside a range of cultural and community-oriented facilities. The project forms part of an ambitious architectural master plan aimed at shaping a future-ready cultural ecosystem for Oman.

50,000 m² of Advanced Structural Steel Works

Under the awarded 50,000 square metre package, EBS will be responsible for the full scope of structural steel works. This includes detailed engineering design, specialist fabrication at EBS facilities, transportation and on-site erection, as well as the implementation of advanced fire protection systems. The scope also covers long-span and multi-component steel structures tailored for theatre halls, public atriums, and culturally significant spaces requiring high levels of precision, safety compliance, and long-term durability.

Leadership Perspective

Commenting on the project, Joseph Chidiac, General Manager of Emirates Building Systems, said:
“The Sayyid Tarik Bin Taimur Cultural Complex is a project of national importance, and we are proud to contribute to a landmark that will influence Oman’s cultural landscape for generations. This award underscores EBS’s proven capability in delivering technically advanced steel structures at scale, while consistently meeting the highest global standards in engineering and fabrication.”

Confidence from the Main Contractor

The project’s main contractor, SAH–SML Joint Venture (Saif Al Harasi – Sembol Construction JV), expressed strong confidence in EBS’s technical expertise and its long-standing track record in managing complex, multidisciplinary steel construction packages across diverse sectors.

Strong Track Record Across the Sultanate

EBS brings to the project an established legacy in Oman, having delivered structural steel works for several strategic national developments. These include the Duqm Refinery, the Duqm Integrated Power and Water Plant, and critical steel structures within the Port of Duqm’s terminals and operational zones.

Expanding Commercial and Industrial Footprint

Beyond infrastructure, EBS has also contributed to major commercial developments such as the Muscat City Centre expansion and Qurum City Centre, in addition to multiple large-scale industrial complexes across the Sultanate. Currently, the company is executing steel supply and installation works for multiple buildings at Oman’s first Calcined Petroleum Coke (CPC) facility in Sohar, further strengthening its industrial presence.

Driving Regional Growth Through Engineering Excellence

Through strategic partnerships, innovative engineering solutions, and a sustained commitment to quality, Emirates Building Systems continues to expand its regional footprint, supporting the Middle East’s evolving infrastructure and cultural development ambitions.
